The Janak Education Materials Centre (JEMC), previously known as Educational Materials Organization, was established in 1958. Since the introduction of the New Education System Plan in 1971, this centre has been producing and distributing school textbooks for use across the country.

The centre has been rendering services as a public limited company under the Company Act of the Nepal. The Board of Directors for it is constituted with the representatives from concerned ministries and organizations. The JEMC is located at Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.
